Shoe Review: Moab Ventilator (Men’s & Women’s)

03 October 2022

Real reviews from real customers.

The Moab Ventilator is the ultimate outdoor shoe. It’s tough, supportive, breathable, and features a Vibram® ultra-traction grip. They’ll comfortably take you from bushwalk to backyard BBQ without slowing down.

But what are they really like? Here’s what some real-life customers had to say:

MEN’S MOAB VENTILATOR

Waterproof leather & mesh upper

‘OFFICERINOHIO’, 27/09/14

“I’m on my feet for work constantly between 60 and 80 hours a week and these boots are excellent. Lightweight and durable.”

‘DOEINHEAT’, 20/08/14

“I just bought my third pair of Moab ventilator. As a contractor/project manager, i wear them in the office and in the field. My first two pairs that are deeply worn and used, I wear as get dirty yard work shoes or even as a water shoe. They still perform and i cant throw them out.”

‘LEE’, 23/06/14

“I’ve had two pair of these that I have used and abused to no end, only to have them keep going. My current pair is about three years old. It has traveled the Superior Hiking trail along MN’s North Shore, kept me in place on my in-law’s steep pitched roof during a storm and been an all-around go-to shoe for daily activities. Its only downside is that it doesn’t pair well with a suit and tie, otherwise; I’d wear it daily.”

‘PAPAWJEFF’, 02/06/14

“I had to have an ankle fusion and wear a UCBL orthotic with a lift. Finding a comfortable supportive shoe can be a challenge. The orthotic can only do its job if it’s supported well and Merrells do that superbly. This particular pair is lightweight but very supportive and comfortable and Merrell hiking boots are just as comfortable and supportive.”

WOMEN’S MOAB VENTILATOR

Merrell QForm® comfort midsole

‘BECKERATER’, 11/03/14

“I had surgery on both feet about 10 years ago and have had trouble finding comfortable shoes ever since. The surgery was to correct bunions, among other things, plus I have flat feet and wear custom orthotics. I have literally lost track of how many pairs of Moab Ventilators I have bought over the years now. I wear them every single day, all day long. The walk from the parking lot to my office building is about a quarter mile, and these shoes are incredibly comfortable.”

‘OREGONDAYHIKER’, 17/09/13

“The first time I could put them through a trial was an all-day hike in the Columbia River Gorge, with lots of switchbacks. The Moab didn’t let me down and felt quite a bit lighter than my standard leather boots, a definite benefit when hiking on hotter days. Since that Oregon hike, I’ve worn them on Sierra trails and plenty of times just running errands around town because they look so good with various pants/slacks and don’t make me look like a fresh-out-of-the-woods ‘hiker chick’.”

‘MASSACHUSETTSMARGO’, 08/06/13

“From the moment I put them on for the first time they were perfect in every way. My feet are wide in front but with a narrow heel and I often have heel slippage. Not with these shoes (I did purchase Wide). Also, my feet tend to be very hot and they breathe nicely in these. They are extremely comfortable and my feet are happy even after long walks. I highly recommend these shoes!”
