Hiking Europe and Beyond with Moab 3 Tactical Boots
I planned a backpacking trip to Europe for 2 months. Traveling from a 32 L backpack, I needed to be smart with packing light, while also taking my bag as a carry-on for all my flights. I had planned a trip to the Dolomites in Italy to do a 9-day hut-to-hut trek called the ALTA VIA 1. So I bought a pair of the Moab 3 tactical mid boots in black. Because I was going in mid-September, I knew the weather would start to get a bit cold in the Dolomites.
These hiking boots are also waterproof, which was perfect for all the terrain that I was tackling while hiking. I encountered unexpected snow and a lot of rainfall during my days in the Dolomites. Keeping my feet dry after a long day of hiking was essential. They were so comfortable and I did not get any blisters, even though I had only bought them a couple of days before I started the hike. I also recommend waterproof apparel and good pair of hiking socks to stay comfortable in the changing conditions
They were also such casual-looking boots as well. I got so many compliments while wearing them, and people kept asking where I got them from. “Omg, where did you get your shoes from? They look so casual. I love it!” They looked great with all of my outfits throughout the whole 2 months. I wore them every day, and they were just so comfortable, supporting me while I walked an average of 35,000 steps per day. Good socks are a must to pair with these boots for maximum comfort.
I also took them to do some hiking in Albania. I did the Valbona to Theth hike, which was 22 km. The weather was so bad and rainy, but my feet were still so dry. I recently also took these boots to Tasmania to do an overnight hike along Wineglass Bay. Again, they were just so good. We were also walking along the beach, and as the tides were coming in, I was able to walk through the water like it was nothing. Waterproof shoes, especially with a Vibram outsole, are such a game-changer. Seriously, they have saved me so many times, and I wouldn’t go back to having wet feet while hiking. It’s the worst feeling in the world.
I had an amazing experience with these boots, and they are so convenient while traveling. A light backpack and the right gear, like waterproof shoes and socks, make all the difference. I love it!
